Mirador de Bacunayagua (Bacunayagua lookout)
This lookout is located along the "Via Blanca" connecting Varadero and Havana. From the mirador you can see the impressive Bacunayagua Bridge crossing a deep canyon over the lush and beautiful Yumuri valley; it’s the highest bridge in Cuba, 110 meters (361 feet) above the valley floor.
The bridge used to divide the Havana and Matanzas provinces, but after the reorganisation of the provinces in 2010, it now divides the Matanzas province and the new Mayabeque province.
You’ll find there a large observation deck, several souvenirs kiosks, a restaurant, and a bar serving delicious Pina Coladas made from freshly squeezed pineapple juice and coconut, the barman will hand you the rum bottle so you can decide how strong you prefer to drink it!
The Mirador de Bacunayagua is the most popular stop when traveling between Varadero and Havana, it's included in the program of many day-trips.
